Blackest Night #8
Sinestro (while possessed by the power of the White Lantern (which means Life) and the DC Universe takes on Nekron and his Black Lanterns (which means Death). The heroes actually find the weakness to the Black Lantern’s power – all protectors choose life when given the chance! The White Lantern entity possesses the heroes and they in turn defeat Nekron and Black Hand. The power source in the Black Lantern is revealed to be the Anti-Monitor of Qward after the White Lantern Entity resurrects him from death.
The following were resurrected:
- Amon Tomaz (Osiris of the Marvel Family)
- Jennie-Lynn Hayden (Jade of the Green Lantern Corps)
- Digger Harkness (Captain Boomerang)
- Ronnie Raymond (One half of the original Firestorm)
- Hank Hall (The original Hawk of Hawk & Dove)
- Maxwell Lord
- Eobard Thawne (Professor Zoom)
- Carter Hall (Hawkman)
- Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl (timeline seems to be fixed… helmet is removed and revealed to be Shiera, the original Hawkgirl)
- J’onn J’onzz (Martian Manhunter)
- Arthur Curry (original Aquaman – no more elemental water hand)
- Boston Brand (Deadman whose now alive – he removes his mask).
I’m waiting to see what DC will do with the “curse of Hawkman & Hawkgirll”; Ronnie Raymond and the current situation with Firestorm and Boston Brand AKA Deadman is alive (What now with the character?).
It is revealed that the Blue Lanterns have Black Hand in control. The book ends with a White Lantern Power Battery in a crater.
Thus begins the Brightest Day storyline.
If Johns & Reis keep it up… they might be the next Byrne/Claremont team of the 2000s.
